Antivirus and internet security software for slow computers?

I have Pentium M 1.7 with 256 mb of ram i try nortrom system works and mcafee internet security 07 but both use most resources of my system results in the very slow speed of system. which antivirus is best for my system i have only threat from internet which i use through a modem.

Running more than one anti-virus and firewall is inadvisable. In some cases they can actually counteract each other and flag each others' files as malware rendering each less effective and actually lowering your computer's overall security health.

You can use a front end spyware blocker for a start called Spyware Blaster. It uses no resources and is free. You simply have to manually check for updates every few weeks or so.

Next you need an anti-virus. Nod32 is good, but both AVG and Avast also run with minimal resources and are effective. Both are free as well.

Other tools that you may want in your arsenal are Lavasoft's Adaware and Spybot S%26D. Both are also free and Spybot's Teatimer can provide real time protection.
