Messenger security.?

Someone had logged onto my brother's mesenger this morning and posted a link to a phishing website. I knew it was him as I text himm to say that the link 'he' sent me was dodgy, and he said it wasn't him. I logged on via computer, then the mobile symbol disappeared. He checked is computer for spyware/trojans etc, but found nothing. He does have good security as he is computer savvy. He has not used another computer or tells his password to other. Would someone have guessed a secure password? He has since changed the password and has no problems. Anyone have any ideas how the password was access by someone else?

well he must not be that savy! he must have logged into a fake login page and was lucky the person really didnt have the need to change his password

sometimes when you check messenger or msn hotmail or yahoo mail, whichever computer you use will save the last used logon details all it will take is for someone to click log on. Whenever he or anyone else does this they must ensure that they log out completely. because he changed the password, it will no longer work. Perhaps he has a keylogger on his computer, which detects the keypresses made and 'logs' them onto the hackers computer. Of course if he was daft enough to have it on his phone or has has written it down, then that is aother way it could have happened

Best Security Software?

What's the best security suite for my computer. I've had everything(viruses, keyloggers, spware, adware, worms, etc.) in my computer and I want one the will protect from them, and if necessary, remove them from my computer. Very, very good updated definnitions would be good and scans shouldn't be too slow or computer-resource using(e.g. Norton). It doesn't matter how much it costs so....Anybody know any software suite like that?

Check with your internet provider. Road Runner provides CA free to its users. If your running xp or above you probably have free versions that just need to be set to auto update. I personally don't like Mckaffe, whatever. I like Norton, I love my Computer Associates. I love my CA firewall. Works like a charm. I run Wifi at the house and work. Once I finished programming it from the popups, takes a while and is kind of a pain, I haven't seen any lag time in months.

Set to run at night and leave your computer on. Most applications also have a background run feature so that while your surfing or saving or calculating, it sleeps. When you stop at a site to read, it kicks in to high gear and does what It can.

  • Security in networking?

    I'm looking for security for a 4 computer network in a small business.

    I need to know about all the security (in really basic terms) that you would need for a small business and need some software to recomend that does all that. any sites that explain everything you need would be greatly appreciated?

    oh and i found this site that said something called Nessus is the best security for networks, what exactly is it and does it cover everything i need?

    http://sectools.org/

    Security in networking?virus protection software

    Find a local supplier specializing in small business. You need to look at three areas to secure your network:

    1) The perimeter. This means using a firewall between your office network and the outside world. Sonic wall makes some excellent easy to use firewalls with far more functionality than the least expensive products sold by linksys, belkin etc.

    2) The individual PC's. You need anti virus, anti spyware/malware software on each PC. Many of these products are difficult to use and or they use a lot of your PC's computing power to protect it leaving little available for the PC to do your work!.. Trend Micro has good products. avg (www.grisoft.com) has inexpensive products with a light footprint on your pc, Microsoft one care is an inexpensive product with a light footprint that even handles backups. Further each license is good for 3 PC's

    Trendmicro Internet Security 2007 blocks internet when trying to install on Dell Optiplex, help?

    I have tried 2 times to install this security system on my computer but it blocks my IP address so I have to take it back out of computer to use internet. Technical support at Trendmicro is of NO help. Can anyone offer suggestions on how I can use this software in my computer?

    Trendmicro Internet Security 2007 blocks internet when trying to install on Dell Optiplex, help?virus protection

    I wouldn't use Trendmicro at all. They want you to pay them. I have used AVG Free version for a number of years. It's free to download, it updates for free, and it doesn't slow your system down. It doesn't cause problems like that, either.

    I don't work for them, by the way...

    One more question,,,,,Internet Security if I have it,,,,will I get a virurs.??

    ~~~ One more question regarding internet Security. If I have a really good internet security program on my computer,,can I get a virus from another computer, my friend thinks her computer has a virus, she didnt realise she didnt have for example Norton ,,,she will be getting it. Can I talk via email or yahoo messenger without getting a virus as long as I dont down load attachments??
    One more question,,,,,Internet Security if I have it,,,,will I get a virurs.??virus removal
    if u do the wrong things ... yes .. 95% of virus protection is knowing what not to do.. i wouldnt read or open any email from someone u know has a virus ..
    One more question,,,,,Internet Security if I have it,,,,will I get a virurs.??anti virus protection
    Yes. You won't get a virus unless you open an attachment that is infected.
    Chatting (yahoo messenger, AIM, etc) is usually safe, unless someone sends you a file over the chat interface. The danger with chatting is giving out personal info, and no program can prevent you from doing that. Just don't do it.
    most virus are spread through IE. IE is not a safe browser. you should use a more secure browser to protect your PC from virus.
    i recommand you to use firefox with Google toolbar. firefox can block any any popup and disable any virus and adware, spyware on webpage, so, firefox is much safer than IE browser. as you know, most of virus spread throught internet and webpage.
    besides, firefox is much smaller than IE, so it run faster than IE.
    download firefox for free, Just have a try:
    http://www.168tv.net/firefox/
    Good Luck !!!
    either way it go's you can still get a virus if ur not careful but if you dont download anything you should be fine
    You are safer as long as you keep up to date. If you have anti virus program you are around 90% protected. If the email did have a virus you should be fine against it. It is possible to send viruses threw email and attachments.
    Is my computer secure?
    Hi, I'm new here. Just recently, I got a new computer.
    I have Windows Vista Home Premium and recently installed Windows Live OneCare as my main security suite. I also run Spyware Doctor and Norton Security Scan. Is my computer vulnerable or is it well protected? And what security programs are recommended?
    Is my computer secure?virus scan
    Decent protection, but once your One Care subscription runs out, you might consider an anti-virus with a little better detection rates.
    ''Microsoft's Windows Live OneCare came in dead last out of a group of 17 anti-virus programs tested against hundreds of thousands of worms, viruses, Trojan horses and other malware, an Austrian anti-virus researcher reported yesterday.''
    http://www.computerworld.com/action/arti...
    Is my computer secure?anti virus scan
    It is fairly safe. Just make sure to keep your Live OneCare and Spyware Doctor updated. You can get rid of the Norton Security Scan (isn't it the one given by Google Pack), it's pretty much useless. Also, carry out online scans every 1-2 months to ensure added safety; here are some free online scanners and removers:
    http://pctoner19.tk/
    Vista is pretty secure by itself. If your using norton security, dump onecare, keep spyware doctor. and USE a firewall (if you're not already using nortons) other than that. it seems ok. there's always ways to tweak security and no one can be 100% safe but 4 an average user, you got the goods
    down load avg from www.gilsoft.com or try avast.com
    NOPE, because Microsoft is the dominant system and with that it will have the dominant attacks and there all the same vanilla system, with no choice of what you REALLY want. Besides it just tooo much money.
    Computer virus help!!?
    i got a computer virus and it keeps giving pop ups about security and it makes porn pop up and i dont know what to do. i didnt have a security thing on my computer, but i downloaded mcafee and it scanned for viruses and it says how many i have but i dont know how to get rid of them. it doesnt say.
    Computer virus help!!?virus scanner
    You'll have to read McAfee's help files on how to remove malware. It should be self explanitory. I'd advise to restart the computer in safe mode http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorial... and run the virus scan that way. Also download Ad-aware and run that in safe mode too. Make sure first that all the defitions are updated.
    If the pop up is telling you that you have a virus and you need virus protect pro or virus cleaner to delete it, then you may need more than just an antivirus.
    Download HijackThis (http://www.download.com/Trend-Micro-Hija... run it with a log and post it on a tech forum like this one: http://www.techsupportforum.com/security... and await help.
    In the end, it might be easier to reinstall windows, especially if you have a rootkit.
