They will always find a way in, no matter what you have installed. However, ensure you get Microsoft Security Updates regularly, by turning on the update facility, and ensure you firewall is always on. You do not say what security you have, but download Spybot - Search and Destrpo (make sure it is the right one). AVG Free, ADAwareSE. These are free from www.download.com
You should get the Norton Virus disks.

I suggest diabling all anti-virus, ant-spyware and firewall programs that are installed on your pc (including windows firewall)and then try to install it.

First of all.. if you are not sure of something this basic with your product then the proper place to go would be the mcafee.com website or contacting their technical support... asking for advice on a public web board from people who might be younger than 10 years old is never wise.

Resetting to the defaults would mean back to the settings that it had when you first installed it. (What are those? see above).

If you have added anything to the firewall rules or have changed any settings those will be gone.

Most likely if your product is ''kicking out of enabled mode'' there is a problem which is probably malware related.

i would say turn off mcaffee, as it is not very good in my experience, but keep the windows security on, as it does not really hinder pc performance, but can have its uses.

go into control panel , click add/remove programs and see if there is something like search assistant in there . if there is uninstall it , also any thing that might relate to zirius .
From the browser menu,

then delete your Temporary Internet Files and your Cookies.

If your files are not shared and you put a password on your computer he should not be able to access your computer.

You can change you own computer to a different network name and he will not see it...plus...only what you specified to share will be visible on the network...so the chance are slim...unless your brother go onto your computer physically.

you're supposed to buy a copy for every computer. but i wouldn't even use it mcaffee is horrible, as well as nortons. you should really get AVG or NOD32 they are so much better, they will find and fix more viruses than mcaffe and nortons, and they use up a lot less resources so your computer will run a little faster.

Legally, you should have a separate copy (and therefore a separate license) for each computer. If your copy is recent, you may find that it is licensed for 3 computers already, as many of the consumer versions of the major security suites are doing this automatically due to the increased number of people with multiple computers.

If the version is licensed only for one computer, it likely will not LET you install onto more than one computer, because it will verify the serial number with their database and see that you already have it on another PC, and then it will disable it (or not even install it) on the second PC.
